Dear diary,
Today I decided to ask Mr Birling for a raise. I wanted to ask for twenty-five shillings instead of twenty-two and six shillings a week. I consider that I'm a good worker and I deserve a better salary or a better job. Unfortunately, Mr Birling doesn't agree. He refused to give me a shilling more and said that he couldn't ever consider it. He claimed that he was paying us the usual rate and said that if I did't like these rates, I could go and work somewhere else, because this is a free country. He also explained his stranges ideas about business:"I don't have to look over you or any of your friends. A man only has to care about himself and his family too, of course, I don't have to look after anybody else".
I totally disagre with all he had said, I think I have just met the most selfish and arrogant person in the world. He is only interested in earning a lot of money and keeping labour costs down.
I´m going on strike. I have to tell  everybody at work we are going on strike, I know they will back me. They are going through the same thing. I'm sure they are going on strike with me. We have to fight for a decent wage!
